New England and Canada Knitting Cruise Highlights:
The knitting group enjoyed fabulous weather on the 7-day New England and Canada Knitting Cruise leaving from Boston. Workshops with Bristol Ivy and Ana Campos provided everyone inspiration for their own designs and ways to take their knitting to another level.
The first stop on the cruise was a short stay in Portland, where the knitters took advantage of visiting Port Fiber and Knit Wit Yarn Shop. Back onboard the group met for a lovely cocktail reception and got an opportunity to get to know one another.
In Halifax the ladies admired the rugged coastline that surrounds the world's second-largest natural harbor. There were numerous excursions to discover and explore this beautifully preserved city.
The next stop, Sydney, the largest city on Cape Breton Island, was easily navigated for those that stayed close to the port. Others choose to take in the scenery on the Cabot Trail and a few intrepid souls did the Haunted walking tour of the north end of Sydney.
In Charlottetown most of the group were charmed by Marge, the tour guide and driver who took them on a mini yarn crawl across Prince Edward Island. Lunch at the Preserve company with their famous potato pie was followed by a visit to a local sheep farm. The ladies had the opportunity to purchase yarn from those sheep at a nearby yarn store. A stop at the Anne of Green Gables house was followed by a visit to the Rustico Woolen Sweater Shop, and to Fleece and Harmony woolen mill and yarn shop.
The last two days of the cruise were spent in knitting workshops with Bristol Ivy and Ana Campos. The instructors designed their workshops building on design and innovative ways of knitting outside of the box. The knitters were encouraged to capture inspiration and images along this journey, which were used to create their own knitting designs.
